With only 5 well appointed guest tents that are spaced at least 60 to 70 feet apart our guests are
ensured complete privacy.  Not one detail was overlooked from the linens, cuisine, to the
placement of each tent.  We have thought everything from a guest experience perspective.

We believe in making impacts on our neighbors lives - both the two legged and four legged kind. That’s why starting in 2025, Africa Eco Expeditions Camp will contribute a percentage of profits to organizations that are focused on

sustainable growth and helping to human - wildlife conflict in the communities surrounding our national parks.

Additionally, in 2025 we will begin a program that takes 10 children who live around the national parks on safari so that they may experience the wonders of their country. These are just a couple of our initiatives. As we grow our small company you can be sure that our giving program will also grow.

Shannon's passion for conservation burgeoned early in her life, ignited by the captivating wilderness of Africa. Her lens captures not just the beauty but the intricate stories of the diverse ecosystems she's encountered. From the verdant canopies to the sprawling savannas, her photographs are visual narratives, advocating for the preservation of these vital landscapes. The Medal of Ecological Merit stands as a testament to her unwavering dedication, acknowledging her tireless efforts in raising awareness about the pressing need for environmental stewardship.

As the Ambassador to Kahuzi-Biega National Park, Shannon assumes a pivotal role in bridging the gap between communities, policymakers, and conservation initiatives. Her presence in Usa River, Tanzania, is not just geographical but symbolic, representing a commitment to safeguarding the natural heritage she holds dear. Her decision to establish a camp underscores a deeper resolve to not merely document but actively participate in the conservation dialogue, creating a tangible and sustainable impact. Through her camp, she endeavors to create a haven that fosters education, engagement, and a profound connection with nature, inviting others to join her in the journey of preservation.

Life changing experiences

Life-changing experiences have the profound ability to mold our perceptions, beliefs, and aspirations. Whether encountering diverse cultures, exploring untouched landscapes, or facing unforeseen challenges, these moments have a way of altering the course of our lives. Each encounter offers a chance for personal growth, opening doors to newfound passions, understanding, and resilience. Embracing these experiences not only broadens our horizons but also deepens our empathy and connection to the world around us.

What people say about us

“Let me start this by saying that we’d been on very busy safaris before, where we were up before dawn and didn’t return to the camp until after dark. It can be grueling. This time we decided that we wanted a “slow safari” where we could relax a bit and enjoy our time in the bush. We wanted time to stop along the way if we saw something we wanted to have a closer look at, plus we wanted to see more of the culture of Africa as well as the wildlife.  Shannon at Africa Eco Expeditions planned a perfect trip for us.  We stayed at The Original Maasai Lodge, Africa Amini Life, for a few days which allowed us to comfortably be immersed with the Maasai and to photograph them in a respectful manner.  We visited the Leakey Museum on the edge of the Olduvai Gorge and drove thru many other areas on the way to the Serengeti. At one point on our journey we were on road so little used that it doesn’t show up on any maps!  It was the adventure of a lifetime.  The Africa Eco Expeditions camp was also a true delight.  The staff was attentive, professional and incredibly friendly and eager to please. We really can’t say enough of the staff that Shannon has brought together to make her visitor’s stay there memorable. There were plenty of wildlife sightings in and around our camp (among other things we had a group of elephants wandered past, no more than 30 meters from our tent), so if you feel like taking a day off from a game drive you won’t feel like you missed too much. Speaking of the game drives, this camp has a customized and dedicated Rover that was built especially for the professional photographer in mind. Sides fold down so you can be at eye level with most of the animals, and of course the top pops up for a different perspective on your chosen subjects. Plenty of animals were to be found all around the area, and the best thing is that there are few other camps in the area so you’re not fighting with others for the best vantage points for your photography.

All in all we had an amazing time and are already planning our next trip back.”
